We’re a tiny crew that takes cartoons a little too seriously.
Toonpost started in a dorm room with too many VHS tapes and not enough sleep. Five years and 400+ essays later, we’re still arguing about whether Gumball is post-modern or just exhausted.
Treat cartoons with the respect they’d never ask for.
We believe animation is where the weirdest ideas survive. Toonpost exists to write about them loudly, link the good episodes, interview the people who made them, and remind everyone that “for kids” is usually code for “actually really ambitious.”
No ads. No sponsored takes. Just six weirdos and a subscribers’ list that keeps the lights on.
Pitch us a storyFour things we won’t shut up about
Earnest about the silly stuff
We don’t pretend to be above slapstick. If a character falls on a banana peel, we’re applauding it.
Opinions, loudly
Middle-of-the-road takes are for people who don’t love things. We’ll argue for the underrated Tiny Toons spinoff every time.
No ad deals
Nothing we cover is paid for. Our “featured” section is just the stuff we actually watched twice.
Small team, big yelling
Six editors, three continents, one shared Slack channel called #scooby-gate.
Meet the doodlers
Six humans. Zero chill. All opinions.
Mira Kovaleva
Editor-in-ChiefUsed to storyboard commercials. Now just yells about Steven Universe.
Tomás Haruna
Animation CriticOwns 14 boxed sets. Has feelings about each.
Jules Park
Comics EditorReads single-issues standing up at the comic shop. Still buys them.
Sami Bertrand
InterviewsMakes animators cry (kind tears). Somehow always invited back.
How we got here
Mira posts a 2,000-word review of Infinity Train on her personal blog. Six friends read it.
Toonpost goes live with a WordPress theme and three contributors. First email newsletter goes to 82 people.
We break 10k monthly readers. First interview with a Nickelodeon animator. Everyone cries.
Toonpost gets mentioned on Every Frame a Painting’s comeback tour. We briefly lose our minds.
We’re here. 5.2M pages read, 412 articles, six editors, zero ads. Onwards to sillier things.
Got a weird cartoon opinion?
We probably agree. Pitch us a story or just send a meme.
